The mornings begin with a hearty breakfast served in the large Guest House dining room and on the patio. Down at the corral, our wranglers are preparing for morning riders to saddle up for their journeys.
All day, horseback adventures are available for the enthusiastic, and provide an opportunity to see expansive vistas which overlook magnificent grasslands, and picturesque views.
Our extensive trails are great for the backwoods hikes and mountain biking. Ask the Ranch Staff for hiking suggestions suited to your interest level.
You can try your luck fishing at Stump Lake ( Stump Lake is one of the top 5 fly fishing lakes in the world) in your choice of canoe or aluminum boats.
Or just relax with friends and family on the Guest House patio. With the open bar, stoked fire pit, stone BBQ, custom pool table, extra large umbrellas make it easy to relax and take in the vast landscape.
All our basic packages include basic activities, for those who wish to upgrade or customize their package, we offer the following activities:
Suggested Items to Bring
With less than 10 inches of rain, summertime temperature at the ranch can fluctuate between -I'C/30'F at night and 35'C/95'F during the day. We recommend a system of dressing in layers. Please bring jeans, long sleeve shirts, a hat with a brim, and riding boots or tennis shoes (riding boots preferred) for horseback riding. Hiking boots, shorts and short sleeve shirts are best for hiking. Other suggested items include: bathing suit sweater or fleece type jacket, bug repellent fanny pack, light rain jacket and camera. Sunglasses and sunscreen are very helpful in protecting you from the intense sun.
Food at the ranch is something that guests talk about long after they return home. As tradition goes, "Come and get it" are the operative words. All of our meals are served family style at a set time in the dining room , on the patio or at the location of the day's activity, as opposed to individually or in the room. It's part of our western culture and family style atmosphere to have meals as social occasions. There is always something for everyone's palate. Please let us know if you have special dietary needs. Breakfast and lunch are served as buffets with special entrees of the day. Lunch might be from a backpack or a saddlebag, if you are hiking or riding or served on the patio to take advantage of our great weather. In between times, should you be just overwhelmed with a sudden hunger, let us know. All this and our friendly gracious service makes Stump Lake Ranch a true haven for the most discriminating guest.
On occasions we will have the honor of two
distinguished chefs and fellow acreage owners provide us with the taste
of exquisite cuisine:
Gianni Picchi, chef and owner of one of Vancouver's finest restaurants called "Gianni", and Willy Rometsch, former private chef to Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. Not to mention our owner Derek Trethewey, who professes to be North America's finest steak chef.
Dress code: Always comfortable.
